Travel Highlights
We rode out of Spear Fish heading towards Yellowstone. First we visited Devils Tower, the mountain from Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind. Very cool mountain and the last interesting thing we saw for hours. We rode across a very large and flat prairie for much of the day, but when we did cross the mountain range it was a much enjoyed change of pace and scenery, not to mention much cooler in temperature. After that, we had another hour or so more to cross the next prairie before we arrived at Cody, Wyoming. Cody is a very cool and historic town. Even though we were about 500 miles from Sturgis and it was two days after the end of the event, this town was still virtually sold out to bikers. Out luck held out and we found a great little local hotel and met some other bikers that gave us a pass to Yellowstone and some advice on where to travel in the park.
