| I got up at
8 to say goodbye to our host and noticed a bucket of soap, a sponge
and a hose sitting out by the driveway. I could not resist as the
bike was in such dire need of a bath. I washed the bike, packed our
stuff and we hit the road on our journey west. The night before while
searching the web I discovered an article by the National Geographic
that stated a road in Pennsylvania was one of the top ten in the USA.
That and the fact that it had 3 KOA’s located on it was enough
for me. HWY 6 here we come. Leaving Weston was beautiful and fully
demonstrated all the reasons my friend landed here. Her home by the
way is in the mountains close to where I live in Northern California.
We got to the first planned stop only to discover it is no longer
a KOA and they did not have cabins available. We did not want to ride
another 4 hours so we pitched a tent and went to a movie, Spy Kids
3D. A reasonably good movie if it weren’t for the fact that
Sylvester Stalone can’t act for beans. There is a reason he
did so well in Rocky. Yo Adrian – this dialog even he couldn’t
screw up. I questioned the sky after we returned so I put on the bike
cover, wrapped our bike bags in the travel rain cover and put the
tent rain fly on. Good call considering it started to pour at midnight.
I woke to the sound of rain and felt a sense of pride as I had so
completely planned for this moment. Here we were in a full sown rain
storm and with only the gear we had packed we had ourselves, the bike
and all our stuff fully protected from the elements. Dad would have
been proud (he was an eagle scout). |
