| This
was a “work day” for me but considering I could not get
an internet connection or cell service and the fact that I had several
other work calls that were unavoidable later in the week, I worked
via a calling card in the morning and then hit the road. We started
out by finishing our journey up the Northern Saskatchewan mountains
to the Ice Fields. They were impressive but it was so damn cold that
we high tailed it back south as soon as we could. From the ice fields
we had a two hour jaunt down to Lake Louise to see the famed view
and then off to Banff. Both were beautiful but it is hard to compete
with the last couple of days. Mostly I guess due to the fact that
the last two days were packed with the unaltered majesty of nature
whereas both Banff and Lake Louise have been seriously commercialized.
I for one will always prefer the natural version. From Banff we were
off to Calgary. The surroundings stayed stellar until about 30 minutes
out of Calgary. Then things became seriously developed. Oh well, it
had to come sooner or later I guess. We located Stampede and parked
up the hill so I could make one of the required work calls then located
a nearby hotel. Once we checked in we did laundry, caught up on some
email, and got some sleep for the big day at Stampede. |
