Mostly sunny with some
cloudy moments. It was still cool due to the higher altitudes and
we hit the edge of one shower for about 2 or 3 minutes. |

| About a half
an hour or so out of Kamloops we finally returned to the lush green
country side we had become so accustomed to. Just outside of a little
town named Vernon we hit some of the best road we have traveled so
far. We were paralleling the river and the road was just perfect for
a bike. Long, wide sweeping turns that allowed us to see one to two
turns at a time. It was just awesome and continued this way much of
the day. After almost a week of gray, drizzly days the mostly sunny
conditions were very much enjoyed. Our spirits were up and we covered
quite a bit of distance. We passed through several small towns on
the way. Next was Lumby and then we had lunch at a campground just
past Cherryville then about an hour or so later we caught a little
inland cable ferry to the town of Fauqiler. At the other side of the
ferry we fueled up. The proprietor assisted us by cleaning the windshield
as he boasted that his little diner and gas station was noted as
one of the finest food and service locations for motorcycles in all
of Canada and America. He then asked me how many stations had cleaned
my windshield. When I said none, while resisting telling him no one
touches my bike, he proceeded to inform me of his expertise in cleaning
acrylic based on his aviation service days. He also continued to cover
me, the bike and the camera with the over spray of his cleaning spray.
I’ll remember his expertise as I wash the bike as soon as possible
to get rid of this sticky, spotty residue :~} I know, it’s the
thought that counts. About 45 minutes up the road we caught a second
ferry from Glena bay over to Shelter bay. It was on the last leg of
the day that we caught the edge of the only shower we were affected
by today. We rolled into Revelstoke around 5:20 and called someone
that the motorcycle tour guys recommended we call. Alex worked at
a resort named “Glacier House” and it is a magnificent
lodge built in 2000 and surrounded by some of the most inspiring mountains
we have viewed so far (see pictures and check it out at www.GlacierHouse.com).
I’d tell you to tell him John & Haley sent you but he did
not even remember the guys that referred me so you are on you own.
We went to town for dinner and it is a very quaint and enjoyable little
community. They block off the main street every night so the locals
and tourists alike can gather to enjoy local music and dinner in the
streets. We are told there are a few bears that live on the property
so tomorrow we will see if we can find them and then head towards
Lake Louise and Banff to find a place to settle in for two days so
I can do my work day and Haley can get in some play time. Praying
for sun!!! |
